Our Philosophy
Ruth’s Herbal Remedies attempts to live as lightly as possible on Planet Earth. We believe that our company has a responsibility to protect and conserve our natural resources. We consciously attempt to make all of our business practices sustainable and as “green” as we can. Therefore, we pride ourselves on the small-scale, hand-crafted, and quality-controlled aspect of each of our products.
- All herbs, carrier oils, and essential oils are organic. A few wild-crafted herbs are necessary for the herbs that are unavailable organically-grown.
- No chemicals or synthetic ingredients of any kind are added to our products. All of the ingredients have been hand-selected from known sources.
- Flower essence oils and essential oils from Thailand come from a cooperative, fair trade company that Ruth visited and the company guarantees the highest quality, natural oils.
- The herbs in the Savvy Salves and Lip Balms are grown in Ruth’s garden in naturally composted soil which we create using organic practices.
- We use absolutely no pesticides, poisons, or chemicals of any kind in our soils, compost, or on any herbs, flowers, or vegetables.
- The brochures for the company are all printed on recycled paper.
- The paper bags given to customers are also made of recycled paper.
- We recycle all products and packaging materials that can be recycled and avoid unnecessary plastics.
- None of the bottles, jars, or containers are made overseas; all are American-made products.
- We support other local, sustainable, fair trade businesses and promote them on our website.
- We do not shop at any big box stores or do business with companies using sweatshops and other unfair business practices.
- We refill tincture bottles, salve jars, candle tins, and bath salt jars for return customers at a discount.
- We are on the path toward becoming “certified organic.” Since it is very expensive, we are growing in that direction, one step at a time.
